Truth

Don’t we, all of us, want the outrageous injustice and suffering which we see in human history to be finally undone? This triumph of justice, this joining together of the many fragments of history which seem meaningless and giving them their place in a bigger picture in which truth and love prevail: this is what is meant by the concept of universal judgment

Fidelity to the word of God, precisely because it is a true word, demands of us an obedience which leads us together to a deeper understanding of the Lord’s will, an obedience which must be free of intellectual conformism or facile accommodation to the spirit of the age.

Forgiveness is indeed the restoration of truth, the renewal of being, and the overcoming of the lie that lurks in every sin.

God is with us in the reality of life, not the fantasy! It is embrace, not escape, that we seek! So the Holy Spirit gently but surely steers us back to what is real, what is lasting, what is true. It is the Spirit who leads us back into the communion of the Blessed Trinity!

Human freedom only matures in generosity and fidelity to the truth.

Easter

Where there is light, life is born, chaos can be transformed into cosmos. In the biblical message, light is the most immediate image of God: he is total Radiance, Life, Truth, Light

At times, however, we are tempted to close in on ourselves, to doubt the strength of Christ’s radiance, to limit the horizon of hope. Take courage! Fix your gaze on our saints. The diversity of their experience of God’s presence prompts us to discover anew the breadth and depth of Christianity.

The Gospel

Bear witness to hope. Nourish your witness with prayer. Account for the hope that characterizes your lives by living the truth.

Christ is risen and he is alive among us. It is he who is the hope of a better future. United to him and ready to  offer our lives for our brothers, let us become apostles of peace, messengers of a joy that does not fear pain - the joy of the Resurrection

Dear young friends, the Lord is asking you to be prophets of this new age, messengers of his love, drawing people to the Father and building a future of hope for all humanity.

All through the Gospels, it was those who had taken wrong turnings who were particularly loved by Jesus, because once they recognised their mistake, they were all the more open to his healing message.

Being “sealed with the Spirit” means not being afraid to stand up for Christ, letting the truth of the Gospel permeate the way we see, think and act, as we work for the triumph of the civilisation of love.

Experience shows that the family is the foundation on which the whole of society rests; Christians also know that the family is the living cell of the Church, the more it is steeped in the spirit and values of the Gospel

In our own time, the price to be paid for fidelity to the Gospel is no longer being hanged, drawn and quartered but it often involves being dismissed out of hand, ridiculed or parodied. And yet, the Church cannot withdraw from the task of proclaiming Christ and his Gospel as saving truth, the source of our ultimate happiness as individuals and as the foundation of a just and humane society.

It is the great multitude of the saints - both known and unknown - in whose lives, as if in a great picture-book  the riches of the Gospel are revealed. They are the shining path which God himself has traced throughout history and is still tracing today

Jesus came into Galilee preaching the Gospel of God ... the Gospel is not just the imparting of information, but action, efficacious power, that enters the world to save and transform

The Church of love is also the Church of truth, understood above all as fidelity to the Gospel entrusted by the Lord Jesus to his own.

The good news of the Gospel consists precisely in this, in the offering of God's grace to the sinner!

The Gospel reveals our dignity as men and women created in the image and likeness of God. It reveals humanity’s sublime calling, which is to find fulfilment in love. It discloses the truth about man and the truth about life.

Grace

Prayer is pure receptivity to God’s grace, love in action, communion with the Spirit who dwells within us, leading us, through Jesus, in the Church, to our heavenly Father.

The existing interplay of God’s loyalty and man’s disloyalty which characterises the structure of the Church is grace in dramatic form, so to speak, through which the reality of grace as the pardoning of those who are in themselves unworthy continually becomes present in history. One could actually say that precisely in its paradoxical combination of holiness and unholiness the Church is in fact the shape taken by grace in this world
