A Gospel way of the Passion
with
St Francis and St Clare

Jesus dies on the cross

The Word:

Jesus, seeing that everything had been completed so that the Scripture record might also be complete, then said, "I am thirsty."
A jug of sour wine was standing by. Someone put a sponge soaked with the wine on a javelin and lifted it to his mouth. After he took the Wine, Jesus said, "It's done -complete." Bowing his head he offered up his spirit.

John 19:28-30

Francis:

My Lord Jesus Christ, I pray you to grant me two graces before I die: the first is that during my life I may feel in my soul and in my body, as much as possible, that pain which you, dear Jesus, sustained in the hour of your most bitter Passion. The second is that I may feel in my heart, as much as possible, that excessive love with which you, 0 Son of God, were inflamed in willingly enduring such suffering for us sinners.

Prayer on La Verna - Fioretti.
Clare:

Behold him,
consider him,
desire to imitate him:
if you suffer with him, you shall reign with him,
if you weep with him, you shall rejoice with him.
If you die with him on the cross of sorrow,
you shall possess heavenly mansions in the brightness of the saints
and your name shall be ever, in the book of life,
called glorious among humankind.
