Princess of the Velvet Revolution, this Poor Clare changed the history of her country more than seven centuries after she was born to grace it in 1211. St Clare wrote her four amazingly lovely letters, the first to encourage her when she turned down the exasperated holy Roman Emperor Frederick II. The Emperor is said to have remarked, “If she had turned me down for a mortal I would have killed him!” Like her namesake and contemporary, Agnes of Assisi, this Agnes has her own wonderful story
A light lunch will be provided. There is no charge, but please book well in advance and please let us know if you find yourself subsequently unable to come. Thank you
