Songs and meditations from the writings of St Pio
This collection of reflective songs is based on the life and thought
of St Pio of Pietrelcina
St Pio was the soul of his age. He lived out, in body and spirit, his
century of betrayal, war and torture. And he lived with joy! He described
himself as a man seeking pearls in the dark. And he found them. Flowing
under the roots of all pain is a deep river of love and glory. Heaven
is not only a crown at the end of the battle, it is with us in our every
day life. It is a resurrection on the Cross.
Many of these texts are taken from Padre Pio's letters to two friends
who were also his teachers and counsellors, Padre Benedetto and Padre
Agostino. It was Padre Benedetto who begged Pio to share not only his
struggles but the joy and the bliss of the Lord who filled his life.
The voice of Padre Pio is provided by Father Paschal Burlinson, a Capuchin
Friar. He has been involved with media work for the last fifty years.
He is currently the National Spiritual Director to the Padre Pio Prayer
Groups in Great Britain.
